Sharon Lynn (Halgren) Cunningham, age 84 of Chesterton, IN passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 in Valparaiso, IN. She was born on November 16, 1937 in Auburn, IN. Sharon is survived by her son, Scott (Michelle) Cunningham; daughter, Candy (David) Tharp; granddaughters, Katie Hughey, Ashlee Cunningham; grandsons, Joshua Tharp, Justin (Hunter) Tharp, Tyler Tharp, Trenten Cunningham; great-grandson, Archer Hughey; great-granddaughters, Oakley Hughey, Avianna Williams. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Halgren; mother, Helen Halgren; husband, James Hunter Cunningham. Sharon was a lifelong resident of the Chesterton and Porter area. She was a member of Chesterton Southern Baptist Church for over 50 years. Sharon always enjoyed her lunches with her classmates from school and spending time with her many friends. She was an avid reader and loved camping, fishing, and boating. Sharon's passion was for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368 with Pastor Richard Henderson officiating. Burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery in Portage, IN. Visitation will be on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Sharon's honor may be made to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
