Michael Lubeck Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael Lubeck, 89, of Portage, IN, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2020, surrounded by his family. Born at home in 1931 in East Gary, IN, Mike was a 1950 graduate of East Gary Edison High School, where he excelled at sports. As a longtime Little League and Biddy Basketball Coach, Mike coached his sons and at one time held a 77 game winning streak in basketball. He retired from Nipsco in 1991 after working as a Lineman for 40 years. Known for his daily trips to several local coffee shops, he and his friends spent many mornings discussing current events and the meaning of life. We will remember him for his gift of storytelling, love of polka music, and his annual 4th of July celebrations. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda (Pisciotti) of Portage, IN, sons John (Vicki) Lubeck of Valparaiso, IN, and Donald (Kim) Lubeck of Okeechobee, FL., daughters Karin Barney of Green Bay, WI, and Meghann Lubeck of Portage, IN., 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Peter and Josephine (Toborski), son Michael, granddaughter Barbie, grandson Caleb, 6 sisters, and 3 brothers. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County. Arrangements were handled with Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage, Indiana.
