Mary Louise (Wilds) Hodges age 84, of Portage, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved on March 29, 2022. She was born on May 14, 1937, in Gary, the daughter of John W Wilds and Mary (Nabhan) Wilds. Mary Lou was survived in death by her sister, Jackie Demmond of Portage, IN; son, William Dennis (Jeanette) Hodges of Round Rock, TX; daughter, Beth (Dean) Mosca of Portage, IN, and son, David Hodges of Spanish Fort, AL. Her granddaughters, Michelle (Michael) Knox, Jessica (Christopher) Nunley, Lauren Hodges, and Mia Mosca. grandsons; Liam Hodges, Tanner (Danielle) Samila, Paul Canaday, Travis (Kristin) Canaday, and Joshua Canaday; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Knox, Kylar Knox, Grayson Nunley, Oliver Nunley, Gavin Moran, Ayabella Canaday, and Travis Canaday Jr, as well as many cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Wilds; mother, Mary Wilds; beloved husband and best friend, Gerald W Hodges; sister Sherry Burger, and daughter in-law, Stacy Hodges. Mary Lou graduated from William A Wirt High School in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald W Hodges on March 21, 1959. Mary Lou was a homemaker who found her passion in taking care of her family and home, making sure all of those around her were well loved and well fed. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, and Sitti. She spent her life loving chocolate and a good book, traveling with her husband, and enjoying time with her family and friends. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Heritage Cemetery, 6941 Central Ave, Portage, IN with Pastor Allen Wright officiating. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Mary Lou’s honor.
