James E. Green, age 86 of Portage, IN passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Portage, IN. He was born on September 7, 1935 in Chester, PA to Maurice and Miriam (Khor) Miller. Jim is survived by his sons, Mitchell (Mary Beth) Green, James Green, Jonathan (Debbie) Green; daughter, Valerie (Rick) Adams; step-son, Chris (Tammy) Hickey; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Green; mother, Miriam Miller; son, Michael Green. Jim grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania, the only child in a close-knit, hard-working family. He married his college sweet-heart and they raised 4 sons and 1 daughter.When they later divorced and he remarried, he helped his second wife, Barbara, raise her only son. He worked hard all his life and distinguished himself as a top salesman in several industries including motor oil and later on, the beverage industry. One of his favorite past-times combining business and pleasure was golf and he carried a membership at the Portsmouth Country Club for many years. Aside from his vocation, one of his true callings was music and he devoted many years to barbershop singing, competing as part of both choruses and quartets. Even with these accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and his conversation in his last years centered around them. No services will be held at this time.
