Eugene Bunchek

Eugene Bunchek, age 93 of Chesterton, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on August 5, 1928 in Whiting, IN to William and Josephine (Bogacki) Bunchek. Eugene is survived by two sons, Matthew (Leslie) Bunchek, Mark Bunchek; daughter, Mary Jo (Charles) Keck; three grandsons, Jason Bunchek, Ross (Victoria) Bunchek, Max (Savannah) Bunchek; three granddaughters, Susan (Todd) Westmoreland, Jennifer (Adam) Birky, Jess Bunchek; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Michael Bunchek; father, William Bunchek; mother, Josephine Bunchek; wife, Anna Marie Bunchek; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Eugene was a member of the Moose 1623, the Independent Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society, and on the Morgan Park Community Committee. He was a resident of Chesterton since 1955 and retired from Inland Steel on September 1st, 1988. Eugene married Anna Kredlo on October 1st, 1949 and they were together for 50 years before Anna's passing in 1999. Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 9:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368 with Reverend Eric Bernth officiating. Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
