Donald Joe Collins, age 76 of Dunkirk, IN passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He was born on October 18, 1945 in Huntington, WV to Ernest and Zedamae (Reed) Collins. Don is survived by daughter, Michelle (John) Giampaolo; son, Michael E. Collins; brother, Ernest F. Collins; sister, Lucille (Robert) Banser; two grandsons, Anthony Giampaolo, Michael R. Collins; granddaughter, Katie (Antonio Correa) Collins; great grandson, Elijah Correa; two nephews, Robert and Christopher Banser; niece, Mary Banser; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Ernest Howard Collins Jr. Don graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL, class of 1964. He retired as a Detective and MEG Officer from the Chicago Heights Police Department following over 15 years of service. Don loved people and enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a big personality, a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. He lived a full life and did everything he wanted to do. A private celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements made with Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN.
