Debra Mahdoodi, 64, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 13th 2022 at home in Burns Harbor, Indiana. Visitation will be held at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana, Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4:00 pm unit 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband, Mansoor "Mark" Mahdoodi; 6 children, Kim Hernandez (Arnulfo), Rachel Shaffer (Jacob), Mark Chancey (Alexis), Sholeh Mahdoodi, Sharise Chancey and Shiela Chancey; 5 siblings, Joy Hepler, Chuck Shaffer, Glenda Bean and Steven Durham; 12 grandchildren, (Anabelle, Damon, Zachary, Aiden, Devin, Ty, Landon, Skylar, Eric, Kain, Trent and Zack) and 1 great granddaughter (Leilah). Debbie was preceded by her mother, Joy Durham and brother, Tom Shaffer. Debbie was born on June 14th 1957, at St Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, IN. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Ivy Tech. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing with her dog Gypsie. Debbie enjoyed going to Florida to see the ocean and visiting the casino.
