David Pete Hanrath

February 28, 1946 - April 2, 2022

David “Pete” Hanrath, Sr passed away suddenly on April 2nd, 2022 at the age of 76. A proud Army Veteran, Pete enjoyed spending time with buddies at The American Legion Post 170 and watching Green Bay Packer games with his family. He continued to be a big fan of John Wayne and of Star Trek (but only the original). Pete is survived in death by 3 sisters; Penny Tokoly (Frank), Sharon Jackson (Bill) and Judy Rutherford (Denny) and his children Sherri Zapinski (Paul), David (Tricia), twins Joe and Frank, Alexis Williams (Jarrad Wright), Ricke Little, Jackie, Rolf Carson, Melony Coleman (Phil), Tenelle, Christopher and Kaylee as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His loving presence is already missed dearly by his family. An informal Celebration of Life will be held April 30th from 1-5 pm at the American Legion Post 170 (798 Wabash Ave, Chesterton, IN). Light refreshments will be served and all who knew him are welcome to share their memories with family and friends. The event is casual and celebratory – just as he would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to American Legion Post 170 on his behalf. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.
